Vidyo is proposing Vidyo desktop, a software client who gets installed on user PC/Laptop to be deployed at all the 200 locations with necessary accessories like HD camera, microphone and speaker. The desktop client can be installed on Windows, Linux and MAC based operating systems and can support the resolution up to Full HD i.e. 1080p. In addition, users will be able to share/view the content in HD resolution and can ask questions either through the interactive videoconference session or by using the inbuilt text chat (Group/Personal) feature of the Vidyo Desktop.
The core infrastructure to support the above-mentioned requirement will be deployed at central location. A Vidyo portal, with hot standby to add redundancy, will be deployed to provide user authentication. The same device will also manage other infrastructure components like Vidyo router, Vidyo Gateway and Vidyo Replay.
Every user will be provided with login credentials, authenticated by the Vidyo Portal, which will enable the soft clients to connect to the Vidyo Portal. The concurrency of video calls can easily be up scaled by addition of Vidyo Routers (Hardware). Vidyo Router will manage switching of the transcode free packets over the network. In order to localize the media traffic, the set of routers can be deployed at various locations, which will help to minimize the WAN bandwidth requirement and also reduce the network delays. This avoids creating a centralized traffic bottleneck and greatly simplifies network planning. Vidyo Router also provides low latency with rate and resolution matching.
Vidyo gateway deployment enables compatibility with existing legacy devices in CIF, SD and HD mode. This will enable to connect to locations, which are having deployments of legacy systems.
Vidyo Replay deployment will enable recording and webcast of the videoconference sessions. Users who are not able to connect to the videoconference session can view the webcast real time or later.
The main benefit of the Vidyo solution is that it is easily scalable and doesn’t require ripping off the existing deployment to meet the objective of up scaling.
